MEPL 150 COVID-19 PUBLIC HEALTH EMERGENCY
COVID-19 Public Health Emergency: Suspension of Renewals,
Redeterminations, and Certain Change Processing; Continuous Coverage and
Reinstatements; and Accepting Self-Declaration of Eligibility Criteria
Reason for Change: On March 13, 2020, the President of the United States proclaimed a public health emergency in response to the COVID-19 outbreak. Worker relocation and workforce shortages are impacting the state’s ability to process applications and renewals in accordance with federal timeliness standards and individuals may be unable to provide information needed to complete the application or renewal process.

OHIO DIRECTION CARD/EBT
Ohio EBT (Electronic Benefits Transfer) is the electronic distribution of food assistance benefits. Benefits are accessed with the Ohio Direction Card. The Ohio Direction Card is similar to commercial debit and ATM cards. Most Ohio grocery stores accept the Ohio Direction Card.

FOOD ASSISTANCE/OWF
The mission of the Office of Family Assistance is to provide customer-focused products and services to maximize the independence and productivity of Ohio's vulnerable citizens, in order to strengthen Ohio's communities.

Programs within the Office of Family Assistance include Ohio Works First, Disability Financial Assistance, Refugee Cash and Refugee Social Services, PRC, TANF interagency agreements, and Best Rx.

OHIO HEALTH START
Ohio Healthy Start (federally known as Children's Health Insurance Program, CHIP) provides, free or low-cost health insurance for families with children. This program is designed to provide increased access to health coverage for children in families with income too high to qualify for Medicaid but too low to afford private coverage.
